Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a proven track record of developing custom scripts and tools using Python for spatial analysis and data manipulation.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform spatial analysis to derive insights and support decision-making.
- Clean, preprocess, and manage spatial datasets for analysis.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on GIS data and outputs.
- Develop, implement, and manage GIS systems and databases.
- Create maps in various formats for business use.
- Work closely with other stakeholders to understand customer requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather requirements and provide GIS support.
- Assist in the design and implementation of GIS databases.
- Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and best practices.
- Communicate findings and results effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a GIS Analyst or similar role.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in developing custom scripts and tools for GIS applications.
- Knowledge of geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoTIFFs, KML/KMZ).
- Familiarity with spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQLite).
- Experience with web mapping technologies (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with remote sensing data processing and analysis.
- Knowledge of GIS APIs and libraries (e.g., arcpy, GDAL/OGR, Fiona).
- Familiarity with spatial statistical analysis techniques.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Understanding of cartographic principles and map design best practices.
